Police search for stolen classic car that was at Run to the Sun

A North Carolina company is desperate for the return of a 1970 Dodge Challenger, which was stolen this weekend at a Myrtle Beach hotel.

The auto was one particular of the extra than 3,000 autos attending this weekend’s Operate to the Sun motor vehicle and truck present.

“The proprietor John (Hotchkis) is sick,” explained James Helms, head of advertising and marketing for Hotchkis Sport Suspension.

Myrtle Seashore Police are investigating the theft of the white 2001 Ford F350 Tremendous Responsibility Truck with a 22-foot white Haulmark enclosed trailer that contained the yellow 1970 Dodge Challenger.

The automobiles were being previous observed concerning 9 p.m. March 18 and 9 a.m. March 19, a Facebook article by police said.

Law enforcement are asking for the community’s assistance in acquiring the autos.

The theft happened at the Fairfield Marriott, 3100 block of Oleander Push, around Broadway at the Seashore, Helms claimed.

Helms stated the Challenger is a flagship auto for the business, which is primarily based out of Mooresville, N.C.

“It’s been with the firm for a pretty very long time,” Helms stated. “(It’s) one of the even larger builds we’ve performed right here.”

The Challenger is value much more than $150,000, Helms explained. There is even a Sizzling Wheels toy automobile model of the Challenger. “It’s a really specific car,” Helms reported.

Helms reported they are hoping to discover anyone who has protection feeds that might have caught the theft. The resort didn’t have its cameras jogging at the time, Helms explained.

Michael Leaventon, organizer of the Run to the Solar event, stated it was unlucky that the automobile was stolen. He reported he was glad that the car was not stolen at the function, which has overnight security preserving the much more than 56 acres.
