Gracy’s Auto Body owner in Little Chute delivers lost packages

Dan Theimer, owner of Gracy's Auto Body, spent three hours delivering 40 packages after a delivery van full of FedEx packages was towed to his business. Theimer is pictured in front of his business Dec. 23 in Little Chute. "It was a small thing to do for me, but it seemed like a big thing to them," he said.

Minor CHUTE – Some Fox Valley homes ended up visited by a selfless present-giver a minor early this Christmas season.

But it was not a jolly old gentleman with a extended white beard in a red go well with from the North Pole who arrived down their chimneys. It was a Minor Chute auto maintenance shop owner with a truck full of dropped deals at their entrance door.

Dan Theimer has owned Gracy’s Vehicle Physique store in Minimal Chute for 12 years. On Dec. 13, a cargo van subcontracted by FedEx was towed to his store after it was associated in an accident that smashed up the van’s front. The van was total of 80 packages en route to be sent throughout the Fox Valley.

By the time Wednesday rolled about, no one from the van company or FedEx experienced arrive to get the packages. Theimer said the subcontractor informed him: “That’s not our dilemma.”

Theimer, who grew up in the Fox Valley, identified some of the names on the deals, so he reached out to the homeowners and advised them their packages were being at his store.

“The to start with pair of persons who picked up their stuff were so delighted, so I believed, ‘Maybe I better see what I can do to disperse the relaxation of this load,'” Theimer claimed.

Some of the deals had phone figures on the shipping and delivery label, so Theimer known as and told the recipients they could appear pick up their objects at his store, he reported. The other fifty percent of the offers did not have cellphone figures, so Theimer loaded them up in his truck and shipped them all to their rightful house owners.

“It was entirely the appropriate thing to do,” he mentioned. “I started to think, ‘It’s having awfully shut to Christmas. They are gonna want this things.’ Just observing the appear on some of these people’s faces when I introduced their stuff. It almost would seem like most people would explain to me what was in their offer. I did not even request them.”

He shipped boxes for a business holiday getaway occasion, a stitching device a mom was arranging to give to her daughter for Xmas and even someone’s treatment. Making the deliveries took about a few several hours, he stated.

Men and women have been extremely astonished when he confirmed up at their households with missing packages. Some experienced used time on the telephone with FedEx striving to observe down their buys.

“Two separate men and women experienced a tear in their eye and they claimed, ‘You just thoroughly restored our religion in humanity,'” Theimer said.

“It was a small detail to do for me, but it appeared like a massive issue to them.”

It was not right until Saturday — a 7 days right before Christmas — that someone from FedEx confirmed up to Gracy’s unannounced to retrieve the deals.

“I explained, ‘They’re currently gone,'” Theimer reported.
