GM expands Canada’s manufacturing role in EV future, pickup production

Normal Motors is wanting to Canada to be a large aspect of its electrical car long term.

The automaker stated Monday it is creating a $2 billion expenditure in two crops there and the Canadian government is kicking in $259 million to lead to the financial commitment.

As component of the expenditure, GM will create the 1st all-electric powered assembly plant in Canada at CAMI Assembly in Ingersoll, Ontario. GM will start building commercial electric powered vans there for GM’s BrightDrop subsidiary in December.

The first pickup trucks coming down the assembly line at Oshawa Assembly in Ontario on Nov. 10, 2021.

GM verified it will also expand creation at Oshawa Assembly plant in Ontario to include things like the light-responsibility Chevrolet Silverado gasoline-run pickup in the next few months.

The plant now builds the weighty-obligation model. GM will increase a third shift to the plant and generate 2,600 jobs as part of the enlargement, GM explained.

The Detroit Cost-free Press 1st claimed in July 2021 that there would be a light-weight-responsibility pickup created at Oshawa and a third change there.
