Baby goats, classic cars show up for Leechburg fire department’s ‘Fun’ event

It was all about the young children, common autos, bikes and much more for Exciting on Wheels Day on Saturday that was sponsored by Leechburg Volunteer Fire Firm.

A lot of volunteer fire departments canceled events during the covid-19 pandemic. To make up for misplaced time, Leechburg firefighters offered an occasion that was not a important fundraiser but a local community get-together.

The 10-hour extravaganza showcased a flurry of occasions.

“We desired to give again to the local community and see them back out,” said Melissa Aller, a hearth office trustee who organized the events. The function was extra neighborhood outreach than a fundraiser, reported Brian Scott, fireplace corporation president.

Leechburg firefighters said they wanted to give the community some things they would like to do — like pet little one goats and try to eat free of charge warm puppies, cotton candy and Kona shaved ice. And, of course, touch a fire truck.

Adults got a classic motor vehicle present, bike evening and reside music through the afternoon and into the evening

Specialty goods turning the heads of children and adults alike have been strawberry pretzels and other gourmet cupcakes served up by Rittner’s Farmhouse Bakery.

Lyla Atwood, 3, of Leechburg, tentatively held a cup of food items for a little herd of youthful goats. She grew to become their prompt close friend and questioned her father Mike Atwood to enable.

“She preferred to appear listed here to see the ponies and feed the goats,” Atwood stated. “It’s great to retain the hometown flourishing,” he stated of the festivities.

Shirley Otwell of Leechburg brought her fantastic-grandson ,Sylas Ward, 18 months many years previous, and loved ones early Saturday.

“We arrived to see the animals and the hearth trucks,” she said. “It’s early and it’s a beautiful day,” Otwell stated, “Plus, we want to guidance our fireplace department.”

Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny Be Good” serenaded the crowd as they perused rows of basic Chevys, Corvettes and lots of additional.

Loaded Hill of Monroeville brought his vintage 1971 Chevrolet truck to his camp in Schenley, Gilpin Township, then to the fireplace corporation automobile exhibit on Saturday.

“I love looking at all of the vehicles and vehicles and hearing them,” he explained.

Bob Sweitzer of Bethel and Barb Snyder of Jefferson Township attend vehicle shows with Sweitzer’s vintage Corvette through the area.

“We get pleasure from searching at the autos … and the folks,” Snyder said.

The Leechburg fireplace company’s subsequent big public party will be their yearly carnival jogging from Sept. 20-24.
